Arroyo del Oso Championship

Arroyo del Oso Championship

Albuquerque, NM—The GOLF CHANNEL Amateur Tour of New Mexico continued its 2012 season with the Arroyo del Oso Championship at the Arroyo del Oso Golf Course in Albuquerque NM on Saturday, May 12. For most of the tournament, the day was beautiful. A few of the later groups got caught in an afternoon thunderstorm. Overall it was a pretty good day for scoring, especially for the early starters, as several excellent rounds were posted.

New tour member, Eric Anderson of Rio Rancho, NM posted his second win in as many tries in the Championship Flight with an excellent 73.

Terry “Tastee” Freeze of Albuquerque, captured his second win of the year in a playoff against new tour player Lee Goddard of Artesia, NM, in the combined Palmer/Sr Palmer Flight. Terry posted a very good and steady round (38/40 - 78) while Lee stormed back with an excellent back nine 36 after a slow start on the front nine. Terry won the flight on the first playoff hole. New tour player Richard Harvey of Hobbs NM also had an excellent back nine 36 to post a 79 for third place.

Rocco Intriere of Albuquerque, posted a fantastic 73 to take the combined Hogan/Senior Hogan Flight. This is Rocco's second win of the year. Rick Blose of Albuquerque continued playing well with an 80 to take second place. Rocco and Rick have finished first or second in the Hogan/Sr Hogan flight in every tournament this year. Adrian Abreu of Las Vegas posted a solid 83 to take his second consecutive third place finish.

In the combined Sarazen/Senior Sarazen Flight, veteran Samuel Felix of Albuquerque took first place with an 87. It was a up and down roller coaster ride for Samuel who started with a triple bogey, finished with two double bogeys, and some really good play in-between the start and finish. This is Samuel's second win of the year. Tour veteran, Phil Vallo of Rio Rancho, NM captured second place with a 90. Phil got off to a good start, hit trouble on 10, 11, and 12 with
triple bogeys, but then finished strong.

Stephen Inoue of Santa Fe broke through with his first win of the year in the combined Jones/Senior Jones Flight with a fine 86. Tour veteran, Jesse Hernandez and new tour player Douglas Christian of Albuquerque placed 2nd and 3rd respectively with solid rounds of 88 and 89.

New Am Tour player, Eric Greenwood of Albuquerque, posted a very good 89 in the combined Snead/Sr Snead flight for his first win.
