2012 Western Open – Congratulations to New Mexico Tour Players
Fifteen New Mexico Tour Players traveled to Scottsdale, Arizona to play in the 2012 Western Open on June 9-10 at the excellent Troon North Monument and Pinnacle Golf Courses. To say the least the results were fantastic.
Terry “Tastee” Freeze has a new nickname, “Desert Rat”. Terry defended his 2011 Western Open Senior Palmer Flight win with scores of 77, 77. He led wire to wire to take a two shot victory. The win gives him automatic qualification in the Senior National Championship.

| I played a practice round with Terry on the Monument Course. This huge boulder was 260 yards out in the middle of a par 5 fairway. Terry said he was going to aim right at the boulder. He did and hit it right behind the boulder and was stymied. Fortunately, he went left of the boulder in the tournament. |
Darren Webb post the low round of the day in the Palmer Flight, a 75, to come out of the pack to win the tough Palmer Flight. Darren told me after Saturday's round of 80 that he was going low on Sunday and he kept his word. His scores of 80,75 gave him a two shot victory. The win gives him automatic qualification in the National Championship.

David Baldwin tied for 3rd in the Senior Palmer Flight and is also qualified for the Senior National Championship.

Jesse Hernandez took 3rd in the Senior Jones Flight and is now qualification for the Senior National Championship.

Also, I know that Terry, Darren, Brett Burrell and Larry Agan won some nice skins pots. There may have been others that won skins that I don't know about.
