New Mexico Tour Championship - 2014

Albuquerque, NM—The GOLF CHANNEL Amateur Tour of New Mexico completed its 2014 season with the New Mexico Tour Championship at the University of New Mexico Championship Golf Course in Albuquerque, NM on  August 16 - 17.  The course was in excellent shape.  The rough was up and drives that did not find the fairway were severely penalized.  Fortunately, the weather cooperated for only the second time this season with light winds, sunny skies, and warm temperatures. 

In the Championship Flight, Alan Turney of Albuquerque completed another very successful season with two excellent rounds 77,74.  

The Palmer Flight was won by David Baldwin of Albuquerque NM, his third win in a row.  David played steady golf with rounds of 82,84 to win by two shots over the charging William Fortner.    

The Hogan Flight was won by Jack Anderson of Peralta NM, his second win in a row.  Jack played the best round in the flight on the first day with an 85 and did not give up any ground with his 88 on the second day of the tournament and won the flight by 4 shots.  

The Sarazen Flight was won by James Jefferies of Albuquerque NM, his third win of the season.  James played well the first day of the tournament, shooting a solid 84 and took a 4 shot lead into the second day. John Rocca and Ron May could not close the gap on the second day, as all of the players struggled in the second round. 

In the Jones Flight, Douglas Christian of Albuquerque, NM concluded an outstanding season that included 6 wins on the NM Tour and a win at the major Western Classic in Las Vegas.  Doug took a 7 shot lead after his first round 87 and kept most of his lead with his second round 93.  Stephan Inoue took 2nd place.  Robert Ray and Sam Bolin tied for third.  Robert took the 3^rd place prize via scorecard playoff.
