Northern New Mexico Open - 2014

Albuquerque, NM—The GOLF CHANNEL Amateur Tour of New Mexico continued its 2014 season with the Northern New Mexico Open at the Pinon Hills Golf Course in Farmington, NM on Saturday, August 9.  For the first time this season, NM Tour Players got a break with the weather.  Although it was a little hot, winds were light and there were no thunderstorms.  Pinon Hills was in fine shape and some good scores were posted.  

Greg Allen of Pagosa Springs, CO captured the Championship Flight with one of the best rounds played this season.  Greg shot an excellent 73 with 1 birdie,2 bogeys, and 15 pars.  He bogeyed the final hole to just miss out on shooting par for the day.  This was Greg’s third win of the season.  

David Baldwin of Albuquerque won the Palmer flight with a fine 79.  This is David’s 2nd win of the year and his second win in a row. 

The Hogan Flight was won by Jack Anderson of Peralta, NM.  Jack and Phil Aragon were tied after nine holes with 42s.  Both players struggled on #17 and #18, but Jack prevailed and captured his first win on the Golf Channel Am Tour.  Congratuations Jack! 

The Sarazen Flight was won by Ron May of Albuquerque.  Ron’s front nine 41 was a real roller coaster.  His front nine included 3 birdies, a triple bogey, and two doubles.  Ron struggled on the back nine, but had a big enough lead after his front nine to hold on and capture his first win of the season.   

Isaac Padilla of Flora Vista, NM returned to the winners circle for the second time this season in the Jones Flight.  Isaac started off strong and played well enough on the back nine to hold off a charging Eric Greenwood.  Isaac posted a fine 85 to win by a single shot.
